It’s an artform that could easily have been lost to time, but the joys of the humble album sleeve have stalwartly endured and were celebrated this week at the annual Best Vinyl Art Awards — sponsored by our awfully English vodka.
Artists, judges and excited guests assembled at the luxury The Hari London hotel where all fifty of this year’s shortlisted 12 masterpieces were on display.
To settle the last-minute nerves, two exclusive Broken Clock Vodka cocktails were being served up by the bar team; Clock Tower was a resoundingly tasty twist on a classic bramble combining Broken Clock and elderflower with muddled berries and lemonade. And the Orchard Spritz was a toe tapping tipple made up of our English vodka, lengthened with cloudy apple juice and tonic.
As the tension built, the competition organisers Art Vinyl finally revealed the winning artist as Michelle Henning, who scooped the trophy for her album sleeve for PJ Harvey tenth studio album, I Inside The Old Year Dying.
