Here’s your sweet lavender
sixteen sprigs a penny
that you’ll find my ladies
will smell as sweet as any
~ Old English lavender sellers’ cry

Provence’s azure hillsides were once thought pale in comparison to England’s lavender fields which commanded up to six times the price for their sweet smelling crop.

Breathing in the heady air amongst these fragrant rows of English lavender gives us a curious idea for a recipe and so we’ve scythed a bunch of sprigs to take back in our knapsack.
